RedSn0w

RedSn0w is a jailbreak tool created by the iPhone Dev Team to help jailbreak iOS devices. Unlike PwnageTool, it jailbreaks the iOS firmware by reading the stock firmware that you can download from iTunes (and many other sources on the internet), then running a payload directly on the device in the form of a ramdisk. When jailbreaking the device, RedSn0w enters into the Device Firmware Upgrade mode, allowing users to install Cydia (the popular 3rd party app installer). Doing so gives users the access to tweaks, homebrew applications, the root directory, and the file system. RedSn0w is compatible with both the Mac OS X and Windows.
