JailbreakMe
JailbreakMe is a userland jailbreak created by the iPhone hacker and developer Comex. Unlike its predecessors (Blackra1n and Spirit), JailbreakMe runs directly in the mobile Safari browser on the iOS device itself. It is currently the only browser-based jailbreak tool to be released to the public since the original version. Apple Stores have blocked it on their WiFi networks due to the risk of a jailbroken store iOS device. Firmware version 4.0.2 patches the exploit used by JailbreakMe and disables the users ability to “slide to jailbreak.”
On June 12, 2011, the website for JailbreakMe was updated. A teaser photo was uploaded, showing someone ski-slide down a slope, with a signboard which plainly says “PDF” is featured on the updated page, possibly hinting at a new jailbreak tool for devices such as the iPad 2.
