iOS developer JamieD360 has released a new jailbreak tweak dubbed NCSettings which adds some useful toggles and settings right to iOS 5’s Notification Center in a simple widget form.

NCSettings is a sleek toggle widget that gives you quick access to some of the useful settings that are used most like – WiFi, Volume, Brightness, Orientation Lock, Location Service, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Respring. It also allows you to set individual toggles that can be hidden from the settings option, and rearranged by holding and dragging the widget.

NCSettings isn’t an SBSettings replacement as SBSettings has many more toggles than just system settings. NCSettings is good for the iOS power-users who are always enabling and disabling things to either test something out or to be more efficient on battery life throughout the day. NCSettings will play nicely with other third party widgets as well as tweaks like Flowtation and IntelliScreenX.

The tweak is available for free in Cydia Store via ModMyi repo.

Stefan Möllenkamp, the developer behind the famous Mail Enhancer jailbreak tweak for iOS’s stock Mail application has released Mail Enhancer Pro which brings full iOS 5 support and even more features, the tweak brings the Mail application to a whole new level of usability and user-friendliness. It comes with tons of new customization settings the Mail application never had before.

The features Mail Enhancer Pro adopts from Mail Enhancer include:

The ability to set up to three kinds of signatures for each email account

Auto-translation of HTML code as you type

Customization for how notifications alert you via priority settings for each email account

The ability to change how your e-mail senders’ names appear

E-mail highlighting for easier message discerning

Mail Enhancer Pro features:

Swipe actions for quickly deleting, flagging, or marking any e-mail message as read. The swipe actions prove faster than having to manually tap the edit button and select them all one by one to do these actions;

Rules for actions such as auto-deleting certain senders’ e-mails;

Rules for notifications such as automatically marking them read;

Less memory usage and a faster interface response.

One of the feature removed from Mail Enhancer Pro is Quiet Hours and the ability customize the text for popups. The Quiet Hours feature allowed you to set a certain time window where you would receive no notifications from e-mail; great for sleeping at night.

The predecessor Mail Enhancer only has partial iOS 5 support and will be updated again some time this summer for iOS 5 support, Mail Enhancer Pro will continue to have more features than Mail Enhancer even after this update as per Stefan.

Mail Enhancer Pro is hosted by BigBoss and available in the Cydia Store for just $4.99. Existing Mail Enhanced customers will get a discount for Mail Enhancer Pro. If you purchased Mail Enhancer between January 17, 2011 and April 6, 2011, then Mail Enhancer Pro is a $3 upgrade. If you purchased Mail Enhancer between April 6, 2011 and June 13, 2011, then Mail Enhancer Pro is a $2 upgrade. If you purchased Mail Enhancer between June 13, 2011 and March 20, 2012, then Mail Enhancer Pro is a free upgrade. All new customers will have to pay the full-blown $4.99 for Mail Enhancer Pro. For overlapping dates, certain times apply; Cydia will tell you how much you are eligible for paying.

If you aren’t sure whether Mail Enhancer Pro will be useful for you or not, here are some instructions that come with a free trial, compliments of the developer.

The iOS developer, @Notcom recently released an updated version of his TinyUmbrella to version 5.10.08. TinyUmbrella 5.10.08 can save iOS 5.1 SHSH blobs for the new iPad (iPad 3) and Apple TV 3G. You can download TinyUmbrella 5.10.08from the link below.

For those of you who don’t already know, TinyUmbrella lets you save SHSH blobs for the Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch, which are required to be able to downgrade the device firmware to an older version. Alternatively, you can use tools like SHSH Blob Extractor or iSHSHit.

This is what Notcom has posted on his blog about this TinyUmbrella 5.10.08 update:

Welcome to the ‘Save SHSH’ Family!

With the new iPad 3 and Apple TV 3, it’s been quite busy. Add to that all the cool new information surrounding a few new iOS 5.1 jailbreaks and we have quite the party.
TinyUmbrella now has support for saving 5.1 SHSH for Apple TV 3 and the iPad 3 (all versions). As of now we still cannot restore them but we are working on getting that working from a bunch of angles. I’ll let you know more when I do.

Save your SHSH!

You can find the TinyUmbrella download links below along with the step-by-setp guide to save SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella:

The iPhone Dev Team has successfully jailbroken the new iPad, but there has been no indication of the release of a jailbreak tool at the moment. MuscleNerd tweeted photos of the Jailbreak along with the disclaimer “Just a first step, still lots of work to do! No ETA!”

It appears that there are several potential paths to a jailbreak:

We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.

Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!

We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.

That’s three different angles, and we’re not even including the continuous work @pod2g makes towards a new jailbreak!

The infamous Germany based iOS hacker involved in the jailbreak scene Stefan Esser, more commonly known as i0n1c who was previously responsible for research and work which ended in a jailbreak for iOS 4 which spanned three software updates and was heavily involved behind the scenes in the production of the Absinthe based jailbreak. I0n1c has once again been showing off his jailbreak ninja skills, first of all by being the first to showcase a jailbreak for the iPad 2 running iOS 5.1 and now the show has shifted towards the iPhone Dev Team’s front man MuscleNerd, who has successfully jailbroken the new iPad in its full glory running iOS 5.1. He posted screenshot on Twitter showing off the new iPad running the latest build of Cydia, which is 1.1.5:

While folks out there were still trying to score themselves the new iPad, MuscleNerd used his skills to bypass Apple’s restrictions and get our beloved Cydia working.

In the meantime, for those of you who own A4 devices (iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touches) can jailbreak the latest iOS 5.1 (tethered), and iOS 5.0.1 (untethered) using Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze.
If you have already upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion, then you may have noticed the Reader button in the URL bar of Safari 5.2, which helps bring text out of all the clutter of images and ads, is always visible whether it can be used or not. In iOS 5 and in Mac OS X Lion, the Reader button is only available in the Safari URL bar when a page is capable of being displayed in Reader view. If you want iOS to react more like the current build of OS X Mountain Lion’s Safari 5.2, then there’s a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed Lettore.

iOS developer rvirajm, has released Lettore which allows you to have the Mobile Safari Reader button appear in the URL bar no matter what. It will load on every page you bring up, whether it is capable of rendering the Web page in Reader mode or not. If the Web site is capable of being viewed in Reader mode, the button will work. However, if the Web site is not capable of being viewed in Reader mode, the button will still appear, but tapping it will have no response.

The tweak unifies the appearance of Safari between iOS 5 and OS X Mountain Lion and really does nothing else. Lettore does not break Reader functionality for Web sites already supporting Reader.

Lettore is available in Cydia Store via ModMyi repo for free, it does not have any preferences to configure from the Settings application, nor are any icons added to the home screen. There is no way to enable or disable this tweak, so you will have to uninstall it if you choose not to use it.

iOS developer Akhil Tolani has decided to make a new multitasking app dubbed Imperium with even more options and functionality built into it than the generic multitasking App Switcher.

Imperium is similar to one of Akhil Tolani’s pervious tweaks, which was named SuperSwitcher in the attempt to make the multitasking App Switcher more functional. The big difference between Imperium and SuperSwitcher is SuperSwitcher required you to use the App Switcher to activate it, while Imperium can be activated from anywhere using an Acitvator action.

Imperium Features:

New multitasking interface.

Toggels for bluetooth, airplane mode, Wi-Fi, location service and even a switch for flashlight

A shortcut for composing Tweets

Quick Photograph

Google Search

Composing new e-mails

Showing song lyrics

Options for respringing, rebooting, power cycle or entering safe mode.

A slider for adjusting brightness and volume

There is an additional window with a list of every application on your iDevice so you can quickly launch any application you want to. The list goes in alphabetical order, so if you know what you’re looking for you know where to scroll. In this very same window are four application shortcuts, which you pick from the Imperium preferences pane in the Settings application.

Imperium is available in Cydia Store via BigBoss repo for $0.99. If you are looking for an easy way to access system features all in one location, then Imperium is something to take a look at. If you’re content with using Apple’s multitasking App Switcher and you currently use a different toggle or shortcut system like Deck, then this tweak might not be for you.

A new premium-designed jailbreak tweak dubbed Deck by iOS developer SBCoders has surfaced. If you just take a look at the screenshot above, you can see the effort that has been put into this app. Deck will set you back just $1.99 to snag a copy from the ModMyi repository of Cydia.

Deck does more than just offer you toggles like SBSettings or IntelliScreenX can, but it also gives you shortcuts for system actions like composing messages and Tweets, launching Siri or the multitasking App Switcher, re-springing and shutting down, or even shortcuts for launching up to six applications of your choice. Deck let’s you customize the applications you want to show in Deck, as well as which system shortcuts to display.

Deck features:

Respring, reboot, power down, lock the device

Quick-upload text to Pastie

Toggle a flashlight

Launch a music application of your choice (Music, Pandora, Spotify)

Launch App Switcher, SpotLight, Notification Center, Siri, Camera, Wallpaper settings

Quick compose text messages, e-mails, Tweets

Toggle Wi-Fi, airplane mode, location services, Bluetooth, mute, 3G

Create up to six application shortcuts

The composition button brings up an iOS-style popup, which gives you the ability to compose Tweets, e-mails, or text messages. The iPhone-shaped button gives you an iOS-style popup with the ability to respring, reboot, power down, or lock the device (put it to sleep).

Deck can be configured with an Activator action, which is customizable from the Settings application after you install it from Cydia. From the Settings pane you can enable and disable Deck at your leisure, choose which interface will appear first when you launch Deck, pick your Activator action for launching Deck, choose which music application on your device will be launched by Deck, and last but not least pick your six actions or applications for the Deck shortcut section.

Check out the demo below:

At the moment, the 3G toggle is a pseudo-toggle that will take you to the Settings application. The reason for this is because SBCoders released Deck early due to high demand and has yet to finish the toggle. The 3G toggle will work like any other toggle as soon as SBCoders releases the next update.

Also note that after installing Deck you will need to disable and then re-enable it and then pick a music application for it to work. This is a small glitch, which will be addressed in the next update.

A new jailbreak tweak dubbed iReminder by iOS developer greensnow will let you place any reminders of your choice on the lock screen. These reminders are fully customizable in appearance and can be changed or removed at any time.

iReminder lets you add up to fifteen different reminders to your lock screen at once. From the preferences pane, which appears in your Settings application after you install iReminder from Cydia, you can set the text size, color, and font. The list of fonts includes 184 different kinds and there are thirteen different colors. The text size is changed with a slider. If you’re using an iPhone or iPod touch, you will need to turn on the ‘iPhone Version’ switch. The settings are shown below:

If you end up having all fifteen reminder slots filled with text, they won’t all appear on the lock screen’s empty space because there isn’t enough room. Instead, a scroll bar will indicate to you that you can scroll up and down through your reminders.

In terms of cosmetic appearance, iReminder might look better as an iOS-style notification bubble instead of just free-floating text on the lock screen. In terms of functionality, it offers great personalization, which anyone with a taste for making their iDevice stand out among others will love.

If you are interested in the iReminder Cydia tweak you can find it through the ModMyi repo for $1.00.

A new free jailbreak tweak dubbed SpotPod by iOS developer Fllotouch brings the ability to control your Music application through SpotLight.

To use SpotPod, you simply swipe over to SpotLight from your home screen and enter control words into the search bar. “Play” will play music, “Pause” will pause music, “Next” will make the Music application skip to the next song, and “Previous” will make the Music application play the song before what you’re listening to already. Once you type the word corresponding to the action you want, tap the search button and SpotPod works its magic.

SpotPod is a rather simple app, but it is a bit cumbersome having to type out a word to pause, play, and skip between songs. Using the iPod controls is much faster, offering a tap interface for controlling the music. Another unfortunate downfall for SpotPod would be that it works only with the stock Apple Music application. It won’t control music from 3rd party apps like Spotify, Pandora, or Grooveshark.

SpotPod is available to download from Cydia Store for free, it works on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The app has no options to configure, after you install it from Cydia, you are ready to start using it and if you want to end the functionality, you will have to uninstall it.
