JailbreakMe 3.0 Around The Corner – So Close Yet So Far

0

It was previously mentioned that JailbreakMe 3.0 was supposed to release on Sunday, otherwise known as “Funday” but yet again, the developer behind the jailbreak tool has ran into another issue. According to veeence, the jailbreak tool is going to be released very soon as comex is at the last stage of preparing the jailbreak for public release.

The information is confirmed by the following tweets made by both @comex and @veeence:

okay, I need a bootstrap and I need to convince myself that I’m being silly about ‘s extra 673 bytes of image, and…

Yea, JailbreakMe 3.0 is being prepped! And it’s still Sun/Funday : )

Not sure if it’s going to be today, but very soon. Bootstrapping is pretty much the final key in the chain of developing a JB.

If the jailbreak tool is still being developed but is at it’s final stages, it should be released within a day or two but comex might stick to his Wednesday / Sunday release days. Nothing is certain as of yet except that the tool will be released soon. For those of you who are waiting anxiously, it won’t hurt to wait patiently just a little bit longer. (Not like you have much of a choice anyway).

Our JailbreakMe page has been updated accordingly as well.

iOS 5b2 Out Along With Sn0wbreeze 2.8b3

0

Apple recently released iOS 5 beta 2 for those with an Apple developer account. The release notes from Apple highlight only one new known feature, the ability to finally sync your iDevice wirelessly via Wi-Fi syncing. The beta is available for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, the iPod Touch 4G, the iPad, and the iPad 2. Users must also be upgraded to OS X 10.6.8 or be running an early build of OS X Lion to install it. Expect a large amount of updates dissecting all the new features and changes Apple didn’t announces as the iOS community digs into the new beta release.

For those of you interested in jailbreaking the new version, MuscleNerd confirmed via Twitter that the new beta 2 is jailbreakable using the latest version of RedSn0w. Users will need to point Redsn0w to iOS 5 beta 1 however.

Furthermore, ih8sn0w recently released an updated version of his Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool. The updated version of the jailbreak tool, Sn0wbreeze 2.8b3 jailbreaks iOS 5b2 and comes packaged smaller (only 15 MB). The rest of the details are from previous versions such as, the iPhone 3GS having an untethered jailbreak while the other devices remain tethered, and no hacktivation to prevent piracy of the iOS firmware.

The official release of Sn0wbreeze 2.8b3 states the following:

When using redsn0w beta for iOS 5, you still have to point to the iOS 5 Beta 1 IPSW even when on iOS 5 Beta 2. Because it is using old kernels, this is why it makes it possible. However, if bug problems arise, then issues can occur. sn0wbreeze actually updates those kernels and allows for a more smooth jailbreak. ========================
sn0wbreeze v2.8 BETA 3:
========================
* Now jailbreaks iOS 5 (beta 2)
* Does not Hacktivate or add afc2 in this release to prevent piracy.
* iPhone 3GS old bootrom users have an untethered boot.
* Now only 15MB
========================
Supported Devices:
========================
* iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) [UNTETHERED]
* iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) [TETHERED]
* iPhone 4 GSM [TETHERED]
* iPhone 4 CDMA [TETHERED]
* iPod Touch 3G [TETHERED]
* iPod Touch 4 [TETHERED]
* iPad 1G [TETHERED]
========================
Now available at: http://ih8sn0w.com/sb28b3

Be sure to stay up to date with your Sn0wbreeze jailbreak tool by following our dedicated page for it.

As usual, do not upgrade your iDevice to iOS beta 5 unless you know what you are doing. There is the strong possibility your iDevice could be bricked so proceed with caution.

JailbreakMe 3.0 To Release Within 48 Hrs

1

Comex previously tweeted that he had fixed all the unionfs issues that were hindering the iPad 2 jailbreak process through the userland (PDF) based jailbreak tool “JailbreakMe 3.0″ but it seems as he is still struggling to solve some of them. The good news for iPad 2 jailbreakers, is that Comex is ready to release his “JailbreakMe 3.0″ tool to jailbreak the iPad 2 within the next 48 hours, with or without fixing Unionfs issues. Some of the recent tweets made by Comex and Veeence confirm that the iPad 2 jailbreak, “JailbreakMe 3.0″ is just a day or two away from us.

The first tweet by @comex mentioned the following:

yeah, I’d love to fix unionfs but if I can’t fix all my issues with it by tomorrow, it’s cut

@veeence shortly tweeted the following afterward:

@jaiko400 He said he’d cut the unions out if he couldn’t get it fixed by today.

JailbreakMe 3.0 is likely to be released by Comex within 48 hours and therefore we think that “Sunday is Funday,” most likely so stay tuned for updates by checking out our JailbreakMe page.

JailbreakMe 3.0 Delayed With No Specific ETA

0

JailbreakMe 3.0, which was previously mentioned to be released either Wednesday (June 22) or Sunday (June 26) by Comex is confirmed to be delayed. After stating that, I’ll cut to the chase and also inform you guys of what else you are probably dying to know at this point. There is currently no known ETA as Comex needs to iron out the unionfs before releasing the jailbreak tool to the public. The jailbreak is on the horizon and will be released once it is ready for public release but until then, we have no choice but to wait patiently.

The delay was confirmed recently by another tweet made by @veeence, where he said the following:

There’s currently no public ETA on JailbreakMe 3.0. It all depends on how fast the collateral damage of unionfs can be fixed.

Looks like there is going to be a bit of a delay as Comex needs to iron out a few things but he is hard at work doing so. He hasn’t provided a new ETA just yet so that is something we will all have to keep an eye on.

JailbreakMe 3.0 Confirmed – Untethered iPad 2 Jailbreak Included

0

As mentioned in our previous article, @paulpols and @veeence, tweeted about @comex’s self-created deadline of “before wednesday” for the release of JailbreakMe 3.0. The userland jailbreak is set to support jailbreaking all devices from iPhone3GS through iPad2, iOS 4.2.1 to 4.3.3 (all untethered too). The biggest news here would be the jailbreak for the iPad 2, which has not been released due to it having the A5 chip as opposed to the A4 chip found in other current iOS devices.

Earlier today, @veeence tweeted the following making the release seem uncertain:

If JailbreakMe 3.0 doesn’t drop tomorrow, blame unionfs (http://t.co/pofO6Yt).

Afterwards, @paulpols tweeted the following, making it seem further unlikely that the jailbreak tool would be released as planned:

Cliché but true: the jailbreak will be released when it’s ready or on a sunday. “Hopefully before wednesday” was just an estimate by @comex.

Shortly after though, software developer, cmw (@cmwdotme), tweeted the following, which not only proves that progress is / has been made but that JailbreakMe 3.0 is working and the iPad 2 jailbreak will be released soon:

<3 @comexhttp://t.co/f5sdWfP can you feel the buzz in the air? haha @saurik you did actually save the SHSH for my ipad2 on 4.3.1

The twitpic mentioned in his tweet is a picture of the following (picture proof of Cydia running on an iPad 2 on iOS 4.3.3):

Hang tight, everyone, @Comex is about to release JailbreakMe 3.0 and it will be available to the masses soon enough!

Update

see, I’m always lying about my release dates. :(

although I have not been getting enough sleep, I did fix unionfs on iPad 2, and figure out why something else on the iPad 2 wasn’t working

Looks like there is going to be a bit of a delay as Comex needs to iron out a few things but he is hard at work doing so. He hasn’t provided a new ETA just yet so that is something we will all have to keep an eye on.

[Video] iOS 5 iPad AirPlay Mirroring Walk-Through

0

One of the features we discussed in our previous article (Apple Announces iOS 5 – Feature Highlights) was AirPlay Mirroring for the iPad. This feature gives the ipad 2 the ability to wirelessly mirror all video on the screen of the device to an Apple TV 2G. Mirroring is no longer enabled in just a few apps here and there, now anything on your iPad 2 can be shown on the big screen with a few taps. The folks over at Apple’n'Apps have created a very thorough ten-minute video walk-through of several iOS apps wirelessly connected to a big screen HDTV from an iPad 2. One of the biggest things the video shows, is how smooth AirPlay Mirroring really is. Furthermore, the  lack of cables makes it all that much better for game play as you can shake, rattle, and roll your iPad 2 without worrying about any wires.

The video walk-through can be seen below:

JailbreakMe 3.0 Rumored To Release “Before Wednesday”

3

For those of you who are familiar with the popular iPhone hacker, @comex, and his work, this might be some good news for you. Jailbreak editor and writer, @paulpols, and developer, @veeence have recently tweeted news about @comex’s work on JailbreakMe 3.0 and a possibility of a release being as early as “before next Wednesday.” In the past, JailbreakMe 2.0 was the convenient userland jailbreak which was as simple as opening a site on the mobile safari browser and sliding a button from left to right. The new release should be something similar in terms of ease of use and functionality for the general public and the other big news being, a jailbreak will finally surface for the iPad 2, which up until now has been left behind due to it having an A5 chip instead of the A4 found in the previous devices.

So @comex is *hoping* to make the jailbreak of the iPad 2 public sometime before wednesday. Don’t report it as a deadline, because it’s not.

iPad2 jailbreak ETA is before next wednesday. Again, this is ESTIMATED time. Thanks a lot to @paulpols for this info. Follow him.

JailbreakMe 3.0″ will support all devices from iPhone3GS through iPad2, iOS 4.2.1 to 4.3.3.
