[Jailbreak Tweak] NCSettings – A Toggle Widget For Notification Center
0iOS developer JamieD360 has released a new jailbreak tweak dubbed NCSettings which adds some useful toggles and settings right to iOS 5’s Notification Center in a simple widget form.
NCSettings is a sleek toggle widget that gives you quick access to some of the useful settings that are used most like – WiFi, Volume, Brightness, Orientation Lock, Location Service, Bluetooth, Airplane Mode, Respring. It also allows you to set individual toggles that can be hidden from the settings option, and rearranged by holding and dragging the widget.
NCSettings isn’t an SBSettings replacement as SBSettings has many more toggles than just system settings. NCSettings is good for the iOS power-users who are always enabling and disabling things to either test something out or to be more efficient on battery life throughout the day. NCSettings will play nicely with other third party widgets as well as tweaks like Flowtation and IntelliScreenX.
The tweak is available for free in Cydia Store via ModMyi repo.

0Stefan Möllenkamp, the developer behind the famous Mail Enhancer jailbreak tweak for iOS’s stock Mail application has released Mail Enhancer Pro which brings full iOS 5 support and even more features, the tweak brings the Mail application to a whole new level of usability and user-friendliness. It comes with tons of new customization settings the Mail application never had before.
The features Mail Enhancer Pro adopts from Mail Enhancer include:
- The ability to set up to three kinds of signatures for each email account
- Auto-translation of HTML code as you type
- Customization for how notifications alert you via priority settings for each email account
- The ability to change how your e-mail senders’ names appear
- E-mail highlighting for easier message discerning
Mail Enhancer Pro features:
- Swipe actions for quickly deleting, flagging, or marking any e-mail message as read. The swipe actions prove faster than having to manually tap the edit button and select them all one by one to do these actions;
- Rules for actions such as auto-deleting certain senders’ e-mails;
- Rules for notifications such as automatically marking them read;
- Less memory usage and a faster interface response.
One of the feature removed from Mail Enhancer Pro is Quiet Hours and the ability customize the text for popups. The Quiet Hours feature allowed you to set a certain time window where you would receive no notifications from e-mail; great for sleeping at night.
The predecessor Mail Enhancer only has partial iOS 5 support and will be updated again some time this summer for iOS 5 support, Mail Enhancer Pro will continue to have more features than Mail Enhancer even after this update as per Stefan.
Mail Enhancer Pro is hosted by BigBoss and available in the Cydia Store for just $4.99. Existing Mail Enhanced customers will get a discount for Mail Enhancer Pro. If you purchased Mail Enhancer between January 17, 2011 and April 6, 2011, then Mail Enhancer Pro is a $3 upgrade. If you purchased Mail Enhancer between April 6, 2011 and June 13, 2011, then Mail Enhancer Pro is a $2 upgrade. If you purchased Mail Enhancer between June 13, 2011 and March 20, 2012, then Mail Enhancer Pro is a free upgrade. All new customers will have to pay the full-blown $4.99 for Mail Enhancer Pro. For overlapping dates, certain times apply; Cydia will tell you how much you are eligible for paying.
If you aren’t sure whether Mail Enhancer Pro will be useful for you or not, here are some instructions that come with a free trial, compliments of the developer.

New iPad iOS 5.1 Jailbroken Already By iPhone Dev Team [Screenshot]
0The iPhone Dev Team has successfully jailbroken the new iPad, but there has been no indication of the release of a jailbreak tool at the moment. MuscleNerd tweeted photos of the Jailbreak along with the disclaimer “Just a first step, still lots of work to do! No ETA!”
It appears that there are several potential paths to a jailbreak:
- We can confirm that the method used to jailbreak the iPad2 4 months ago still works even in 5.1. That means we’ll at least be able to get our foot in the door to get the required kernel dumps on the iPad3. That’s an important step, but by no means is it the end of the story.
- Those of you following @i0n1c may have noticed he’s already tweeted pictures of his iPad2 jailbroken at 5.1. As far as we know, he’s using a method completely unrelated to the one mentioned above. That would be great news!
- We’ve also seen bits and pieces of an entirely different jailbreak method being investigated by someone close to the Cydia repo scene.
- That’s three different angles, and we’re not even including the continuous work @pod2g makes towards a new jailbreak!
The infamous Germany based iOS hacker involved in the jailbreak scene Stefan Esser, more commonly known as i0n1c who was previously responsible for research and work which ended in a jailbreak for iOS 4 which spanned three software updates and was heavily involved behind the scenes in the production of the Absinthe based jailbreak. I0n1c has once again been showing off his jailbreak ninja skills, first of all by being the first to showcase a jailbreak for the iPad 2 running iOS 5.1 and now the show has shifted towards the iPhone Dev Team’s front man MuscleNerd, who has successfully jailbroken the new iPad in its full glory running iOS 5.1. He posted screenshot on Twitter showing off the new iPad running the latest build of Cydia, which is 1.1.5:
While folks out there were still trying to score themselves the new iPad, MuscleNerd used his skills to bypass Apple’s restrictions and get our beloved Cydia working.
In the meantime, for those of you who own A4 devices (iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touches) can jailbreak the latest iOS 5.1 (tethered), and iOS 5.0.1 (untethered) using Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze. For those with A5 devices (iPhone 4S and iPad 2) on iOS 5.0.1 can use Absinthe on Windows or Mac.

[Jailbreak Tweak] Lettore – Keep Safari’s Reader Button Accessible At All Times
0If you have already upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion, then you may have noticed the Reader button in the URL bar of Safari 5.2, which helps bring text out of all the clutter of images and ads, is always visible whether it can be used or not. In iOS 5 and in Mac OS X Lion, the Reader button is only available in the Safari URL bar when a page is capable of being displayed in Reader view. If you want iOS to react more like the current build of OS X Mountain Lion’s Safari 5.2, then there’s a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed Lettore.
iOS developer rvirajm, has released Lettore which allows you to have the Mobile Safari Reader button appear in the URL bar no matter what. It will load on every page you bring up, whether it is capable of rendering the Web page in Reader mode or not. If the Web site is capable of being viewed in Reader mode, the button will work. However, if the Web site is not capable of being viewed in Reader mode, the button will still appear, but tapping it will have no response.
The tweak unifies the appearance of Safari between iOS 5 and OS X Mountain Lion and really does nothing else. Lettore does not break Reader functionality for Web sites already supporting Reader.
Lettore is available in Cydia Store via ModMyi repo for free, it does not have any preferences to configure from the Settings application, nor are any icons added to the home screen. There is no way to enable or disable this tweak, so you will have to uninstall it if you choose not to use it.

[Jailbreak Tweak] Imperium Brings A New Multitasking Alternative To iOS Devices
0iOS developer Akhil Tolani has decided to make a new multitasking app dubbed Imperium with even more options and functionality built into it than the generic multitasking App Switcher.
Imperium is similar to one of Akhil Tolani’s pervious tweaks, which was named SuperSwitcher in the attempt to make the multitasking App Switcher more functional. The big difference between Imperium and SuperSwitcher is SuperSwitcher required you to use the App Switcher to activate it, while Imperium can be activated from anywhere using an Acitvator action.
Imperium Features:
- New multitasking interface.
- Toggels for bluetooth, airplane mode, Wi-Fi, location service and even a switch for flashlight
- A shortcut for composing Tweets
- Quick Photograph
- Google Search
- Composing new e-mails
- Showing song lyrics
- Options for respringing, rebooting, power cycle or entering safe mode.
- A slider for adjusting brightness and volume
There is an additional window with a list of every application on your iDevice so you can quickly launch any application you want to. The list goes in alphabetical order, so if you know what you’re looking for you know where to scroll. In this very same window are four application shortcuts, which you pick from the Imperium preferences pane in the Settings application.
Imperium is available in Cydia Store via BigBoss repo for $0.99. If you are looking for an easy way to access system features all in one location, then Imperium is something to take a look at. If you’re content with using Apple’s multitasking App Switcher and you currently use a different toggle or shortcut system like Deck, then this tweak might not be for you.
